This is a single vineyard Merlot from the Illasi Valley which aims to express both the varietal character of Merlot and the unique appassimento process of drying grapes. Part of the grapes are picked late September and left to dry for about a month and the rest of the harvest takes place in October which results in slightly overripe grapes. The two harvests are then separately vinified and blended together afterwards and matured in oak barriques for 14 months. Expect complex aromas of dried plums and red cherries with oak derived notes of coffee and vanilla.
