Clos du Clocher is a small, family-owned wine producer located in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. The estate was founded in 1924 by Jean-Baptiste Audy, and it has been in the Audy family ever since. Clos du Clocher covers approximately 4.6 hectares planted to 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. The 2020 vintage of Clos du Clocher is still a young wine, and it will benefit from a few more years in the cellar.
The 2020 Clos du Clocher was picked early to harness the power, freshness and violet scents. That certainly comes through on the nose, one of Bourotte`s more fragrant and floral incense infusing the opulent black fruit, though it retains admirable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins, a dash of white pepper on the entry, finely balanced though with good backbone and grip towards the finish. This has developed well in barrel and contains a persistent peppery aftertaste. - Neil Martin
