Domaine Odoul Coquard Clos de Vougeot 2022 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru of Clos de Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits. Based in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Odoul-Coquard is a well-established producer which origins go back to the 1930s. Chief winemaker Sébastien Odoul joined the family business in 2004, after gaining in-depth work experience at Domaine Dujac, Mommessin, and Domaine Denis Mortet. This release comes from the Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, where Odoul-Coquard owns a 0.21-hectare plot planted with 50-year-old vines. The 2022 Clos de Vougeot from the domaine is typically ripe and rich, with considerable fruit concentration held firm by the vibrant acidity of this very promising vintage.
- The 2022 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru comes from vines adjacent to the parcel that belongs to Anne Gros. The light nose has pretty red fruit, although it doesn't quite have the presence of the Charmes-Chambertin at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a grainy texture and modest depth. It’s quite an uncomplicated Grand Cru and maybe just missing a bit of substance on the finish.
