The 2017 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has a slightly reduced bouquet, but there is plenty of brambly red fruit here and a sense of mineralité . The palate is well balanced with a slightly gritty entry, lightly spiced with white pepper and sage and just a touch of dryness toward the finish. I would drink this sooner rather than later. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. - Neil Martin
Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is a relatively new wine estate since it was formed at the beginning of the year 2000 by Count Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, agricultural engineer and oenologist. His aim was to take over the running of those remaining parcels of vineyards owned by his family. Clos de Vougeot is made with purchased fruit from a certified organic grape grower, 2015 being its first vintage. Expect a ripe black fruit character, with hints of exotic spices and rose petals.
