Castro Ventosa’s wines are great examples of Mencía at its best, the result of careful and dedicated work in the vineyard and a low-intervention approach in the cellar. The 2015 Valtuille El Rapolao was fermented with full clusters in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured for 12 months in neutral 500-liter oak barrels. It is made up of 85% of Mencía, 10% Alicante Bouschet and 5% of other red grape varieties. The resulting wine is polished, with a floral character and refined tannins.
