Established in 1978 in Tuscany, Castello Banfi was the brainchild of Italian-American siblings John and Harry Mariani. The foundation of this venture can be traced back to their father`s enterprise, Banfi Vintners, which originated in 1919 and was the top Italian wine importer in the United States during its time. Today, Castello Banfi manages vineyards across the northwestern regions of Italy, spanning from Piedmont to Chianti Classico, Bolgheri, and Montalcino. The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio Alle Mura opens with a prominent scent of red cherries and underbrush, creating an inviting bouquet. On the palate, it offers a combination of sweet cherries, chocolate, and balanced acidity. While there`s a subtle presence of oak, it harmonizes well with the overall profile and doesn`t detract from the flavours.
