Botanica Wines was founded in 2009 by self-taught winemaker Ginny Povall, a Boston native who spent most of her adult life working in New York City. Botanica is located at Protea Heights Farm in the Devon Valley, a short trip from Stellenbosch. This Cabernet Sauvignon dominant Bordeaux blend offers a lovely nose of blackberries, black cherries and tobacco. On the palate, soft ripe fruit, dark red plums, hints of chocolate and earthy minerality. Smooth, warming and textured, culminating in a long finish.
