Crafted from vineyards scattered across the Western Cape, this blend is primarily Syrah, complemented by Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. The nose is characterized by scents of liquorice and cherry jam. On the savoury palate, herbaceous tones intermingle with spices, plum, and berries. The wine maintains a fresh profile with robust acidity, and a sturdy framework is provided by firm tannins.
The 2021 Wanderer's Heart has turned from a Grenache to a more Syrah driven bouquet, matured for nine months in neutral barrel. With dark berry fruit, touches of garrigues and rose petals on the nose, this is succinct and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, very Old World driven with touches of black olive on the tangy finish. Lovely.
