Biserno is the flagship wine of Tenuta di Biserno, a prestigious winery located in the coastal area of Upper Maremma, Tuscany. The estate is owned by Lodovico Antinori, who also founded the acclaimed Ornellaia winery, and his brother Piero Antinori, known for his role in the renowned Antinori family wine business. The wine is a Bordeaux-style blend, crafted from a careful selection of grapes, primarily Cabernet Franc, with smaller portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The 2012 vintage of Biserno is highly regarded for its balance, structure, and complexity. In this particular year, the growing season was characterized by a relatively mild winter followed by a warm, dry summer that allowed for a slow and steady ripening of the grapes. This, in turn, led to an exceptional concentration of flavours and aromas in the fruit.
