The distillery was closed for a period of time in the early 21st century, but was reopened in 2004. BenRiach is known for its innovative approach to whisky-making, combining traditional methods with modern techniques. The distillery sources its barley from local farms and uses water from nearby springs to create its whiskies.
The distillery produces a range of single malts, including unpeated, peated, and heavily peated expressions. Its signature whisky, the BenRiach 10 Year Old, is a classic Speyside single malt that is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. It has a smooth and balanced flavor, with notes of vanilla, honey, and spice.
