Massolino Barolo Parafada 2012 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Nebbiolo red wine from the Piedmont appellation of northern Italy. Representing the highest tier of production at Massolino, this is one of four single cru bottlings on offer from this well-regarded Serralunga-based winery. It is produced from the 1.13-hectare Parafada vineyard, where the vines are on average around 60+ years of age, and is renowned for wines of intensity, robust structure and youthful austerity. This is the archetypal old-school Barolo that will need a good 10 years in the cellar before it is approachable. "The 2012 Barolo Parafada carries broad shoulders and a heavier gait. This wine leaves a lasting footprint, thanks to its aromas of dark fruit, pressed cherry, smoke, tobacco and toasted spice. The wine stands out for its textural richness and its important structure that keeps everything else locked down in place." Wine Advocate, 2017
