Founded in 2008, A.A. Badenhorst is an independent wine producer, owned by cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst. Based in the Swartland region of South Africa, the estate covers approximately 28 hectares of mostly old bush vines. This release is produced from 100% Tinta Barroca, a Portuguese indigenous varietal that is grown primarily in the Douro. The grapes come from a single vineyard planted in 1962 on the decomposed granite soils. The wine is very refined, slightly smoky but light on its feet.
