André Bruyns, previously the assistant winemaker for David and Nadia Sadie, now serves as the vineyard manager at Lammershoek in Swartland. He did not release any wines form the 2021 vintage under his City on a Hill label due to difficult trading circumstances but he’s back with a bang with his 2022 new releases. The majority of Swartland`s old red grape vines are dedicated to Tinta Barocca. These rugged, ancient vines were initially planted for fortified wines, but some producers have come to appreciate their ability to produce high-quality table wines, with robust structure and excellent ageing potential.
