Annandale Man O`Words Bourbon Cask 2015

HED22917 70cl 59.2%
Originally founded in 1836, Annandale was given a new lease of life, when David Thomson and Teresa Church bought the slumbering distillery in 2007. They not only restored the beautiful buildings but also reinstated whisky production, using a modern plant designed by the late Dr Jim Swan. ‘Man o’Words’ is their range of unpeated whiskies, in celebration of Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Poet. This release was distilled in 2015 and matured in a single ex-bourbon cask before being bottled at cask strength. Expect some zingy citrus notes, complemented by marzipan, caramel, pastry and some floral undertones.

Annandale

Ostensibly one of Scotland's oldest whisky makers, Annandale was founded in Annan, Dumfries and Galloway, in 1836 by George Donald and operated for around 60 years before being sold to Johnnie Walker in the early 1890s. After over a hundred years of silence in the stillroom, Annandale was purchased in 2007 by Professor David Thomson and Teresa Church, who set about revitalising the distillery.

The distillery setup was overseen by legendary consultant, the late Dr Jim Swan. The team operate wooden washbacks, one wash still and two spirit stills, working to around 250,000 litres a year. Annandale produce both peated (Man o' Sword) and unpeated (Man o' Words) single malt and use both American ex-Bourbon casks and Oloroso Sherry casks for ageing.
