In 1999, Mariano García and Javier Zaccagnini founded Aalto with the vision of creating world-class wines in Ribera del Duero. Mariano, a former winemaker at Vega Sicilia, and Javier, once the head of the Ribera del Duero regulatory council, bring unparalleled expertise to the project. Aalto's vineyards, comprising 130 hectares of old Tinto Fino vines, are scattered across nine municipalities, ensuring rich diversity in their wines. The modern winery in Quintanilla de Arriba, designed with minimalist elegance, utilizes gravity flow for gentle handling of the grapes. Aalto's wines, known for their depth, balance, and aging potential, reflect the true character of their prestigious region.
