Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts

Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

One of the most highly regarded 1er Cru climats in the Côte de Nuits, the vineyard of Aux Malconsorts (sometimes referred to as ‘Les Malconsorts’) is located on the border with Nuits-St-Georges and immediately adjacent to the Grand Cru of La Tâche in Vosne-Romanée. In good vintages, it is considered by many Burgundy lovers to be a Grand Cru in all but name.

The terroir of Aux Malconsorts is very much similar to that of La Tâche, occupying the most favourable, southeast-facing mid-slope and being planted on soils of stony clay over dense limestone subsoil. The resulting wines show an extraordinary combination of power, finesse and elegance which places them among the finest Pinot Noirs in highly competitive field of the fine Vosne Pinots. Leading producers with vineyard holdings in Aux Malconsorts include Domaine Dujac, Domaine Fourrier, Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat and Domaine Sylvain Cathiard.
