Weingut Hanspeter Ziereisen is located in the southern part of Baden, directly on the Rhine river at the border of Alsace and Switzerland. A producer of meticulous attention to detail, they specialise in Pinot Noir, aka Spätburgunder, and any wine labelled as “Jaspis” denotes a barrel selection only produced in the finest vintages. The 2014 Alte Reben (“old vines) is tightly wound, tensile and deep, with lovely purity of fruit and delicate, lingering minerality. A superb alternative to Burgundy.
