Yquem 2000

Château d’Yquem is a Premier Cru Supérieur Classé property in Sauternes, Bordeaux, and is widely regarded as the greatest producer of sweet wine in the region, perhaps even the world. It is a blend of botrytised Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc that is painstakingly hand-harvested, berry by berry, and is matured for 42 months in new French oak. The 2000 vintage was tough for Sauternes but this offers an excellent early maturing option, with crisply defined fruits, subtle savoury complexity and delicate freshness all the way through the long, mineral-laced finish.
