Fontodi Vin Santo 2013 is a sweet wine from the Chianti Classico appellation of Tuscany. Certified organic in the vineyards and combining modern and traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques in their modern, gravity-fed cellar, Fontodi has become a byword for consistent quality and terroir expression in Chianti Classico. For the estate`s Vin Santo, Trebbiano and Sangiovese grapes are air-dried for five months before being pressed and racked into barrels for fermentation. The wine is matured in French oak and chestnut barrels on `mother lees` derived from previous years` production for around six years before bottling. A hugely complex sweet wine with notes of raisin, orange peel, almond and juniper.
