Bodegas Bat Gara was founded in 2012 and is one of seven wineries in the 95-hectare Arabako Txakolina appellation, just south of Bilbao. Urtaran is a blend of 95% Hondarrabi Zuri with 5% Riesling, fermented with indigenous yeasts in chestnut barrels and French oak, followed by around eight months on lees. The wine offers aromas of hay, nuts, and ripe pear, with subtle touches of vanilla and gorse flower. The palate is beautifully balanced, with flavours of peach, pear, and toasted notes, leading to a long, fresh finish.
