The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a potent, brooding wine. Scorched earth, leather, tobacco, incense, dried herbs and chocolate all show the hallmarks of a wine that is beginning to enter its early plateau of maturity. There’s plenty of structural and textural intensity, especially considering virtually the entire vineyard had been recently replanted at the time. Black cherry, tobacco, menthol, licorice and dried herbs linger on the poised, textured finish. - Antonio Galloni
Situated along Napa Valley’s Oakville bench, the Ulysses vineyard was once part of the famed Charles Hopper ranch and was acquired by Christian Moueix in 2008. From the unbelievably excellent 2013 vintage, this is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with lesser parts Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It is incredibly full-bodied and powerful, yet endowed with deliciously exuberant notes of blackberry, cassis and wild flowers.
