The 2020 Château Trotte Vieille is an exquisite blend composed of 95% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc, aged for 16 months in 80% new French oak barrels. With a 15% ABV, the wine bursts with vibrancy, showcasing aromas of wild blueberries, succulent black plums, and black raspberries. Subtle floral hints of lilacs, star anise, and tar, accompanied by a touch of wild thyme, add to its profile. The palate boasts richness and fullness, enveloping the senses in black fruits and exotic spices. Framed by refined tannins and just the right amount of freshness, the wine concludes on a perfumed, earthy note.
The 2020 TrotteVieille has a backward nose that gradually opens, with layers of blackberry and raspberry, freshly rolled tobacco, clean and precise. This is classy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, beautifully balanced and finely structured. A dash of black pepper toward the persistent finish. This is living up to its full potential and should develop with class in bottle. - Neil Martin
