In the 1980s, Suntory introduced a lighter version of the popular Suntory Old Whisky to the Japanese market. This was sold with the addition of ‘Mild and Smooth’ and had only 40% ABV instead of the usual 43%. This light variant was not very well received by Japanese customers, so this expression soon disappeared from the market, becoming a sought-after collector’s item.
