Storm Vineyards have made a notable entry into South Africa`s fine wine arena, marking their debut vintage in 2014. Hannes Storm, formerly the head winemaker at Hamilton Russell, employs a gentle and less interventionist approach to create exquisite Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. The Ridge vineyard is cultivated at a high vine density on an eastern-facing slope, situated at an elevation of 300 meters within the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge region. This location often experiences ripening conditions that can extend up to a month later compared to the Vrede vineyard. In the 2022 vintage, for the first time, 10% of the wine was aged in clay amphora, while the remainder was matured with 32% new oak. The resulting wine is exuberantly juicy, exhibiting vibrant citrus notes and hints of honey, all complemented by an elegant white blossom aroma.
