Slobodné Vinárstvo (‘free winery’) has overcome great adversity to make some of Slovakia’s most exciting wines. Agnes Lovecka, her sister Katarina Kuropkova, and her husband, Miso Kuropka along with their parents, reclaimed their family’s estate, Majer Zemianske Sady, back in 1997 and have been making wine as Slobodné Vinárstvo since 2010. Deviner 2020 is a blend of 85% Devin and 15% Tramín Cervený [aka Gewurztraminer]. It macerated on skins for one week, and after fermentation, it was aged in oak for 1 year. The wine is gently fined, but not filtered.
