Created in 1994 by Manfred and Elaine Krankl, Sine Qua Non is arguably the most famous of all the California cult wineries and is renowned for exceptionally limited quantities of red and white wines made from the classic Rhône Valley varieties. From the excellent 2001 vintage, Ventriloquist is a blend of 82% Grenache and 18% Syrah from the Alban, Stolpman and Shadow Canyon vineyards. This is a muscular and broody wine for which decanting is strongly recommended.
