This is the second release of this exceptional wine made from pre-Phylloxera Carricante vines that are up to 130 years old. It is fermented on skins in a single oak cask for up to 10 months and released after an extended period of bottle maturation. Light gold in colour, the nose opens with generous aromas of apricot, preserved lemon, dried tropical fruit and honey. The palate has delicate tannic presence which considerably enhances the overall complexity and carry of flavour in the wine, but also balances nicely its natural richness and intensity. Though perfectly enjoyable now, the potential evolution of this wine is fascinating. Just 1,800 bottles were produced.
