Situated in the Chavignol commune, François Cotat is renowned for crafting traditional Sancerre. Among the estate`s prized vineyards are Monts Damnés, La Grande Côte, Les Culs de Beaujeu, and Les Caillottes, the source of this particular release. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are meticulously handpicked, with a slightly later harvest, allowing the flavour compounds to fully mature. This results in the robust texture of the final wines, coupled with higher levels of residual sugar and alcohol. Consequently, François Cotat`s wines have occasionally been reclassified as ‘Vin de France’.
