Royal Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos 1991 is a mature-vintage, botrytised sweet wine from the Tokaj region of Hungary. Established in the village of Mád in in 1989, The Royal Tokaji Wine Company is a joint-venture between Istvan Szepsy, a group of 63 local growers and foreign investors, including wine writer Hugh Johnson. This bottling is the 1990 Aszú 5 Puttonyos – the second-highest sweetness level of Tokaji sweet wines after 6 Puttonyos and Eszencia. Producer note (tasted in 2017. "This wine is typically structured and concentrated with elegance and grace combined with power and backbone. Minty, leathery nose, fresh in the mouth, nice fullness leading to a lively palate with intense richness and depth with perfect balance."
