Quintessa 2019 is a full-bodied Bordeaux blend from the Rutherford AVA of the Napa Valley. Quintessa owners Agustin and Valeria Huneeus chose to plant vineyards on the 113ha Quintessa estate owing to its extraordinary diversity of soil types and microclimates. Depending on the vintage, Quintessa may include some or all of the five Bordeaux varieties grown on the property. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carménère. The inaugural 1996 vintage marked out Quintessa as a Californian classic in the making and the wines continue to be among the most elegant and refined available from the Napa Valley. Dried herb, cedar and pencil shavings accent lifted red fruit and brilliant acidity on the palate, with a supple yet still youthfully grippy texture that is framed by structured, graceful tannins. 100 points.
