Under Alain Vauthier`s stewardship, Château Ausone has reclaimed its esteemed position among Bordeaux`s elite Right Bank estates, standing alongside Pétrus and Cheval Blanc. The 1989 vintage, produced during a notably ripe year, presents moderately intense aromas of melted caramel, coffee, fruitcake, and ripe currants. On the palate, it exhibits medium body with red and black currant flavours, accompanied by firm tannins and a somewhat attenuated finish. While not reaching the heights of other vintages, it remains a wine of considerable interest, reflecting the unique characteristics of its harvest year.
