Established in Prémeaux-Prissey in 1999, Domaine de la Vougeraie came into being when wine entrepreneur Jean-Claude Boisset made the decision to consolidate all the vineyard holdings acquired by his various négociant companies over the years. Boasting nearly 40 hectares of vineyard area and spanning over 30 different appellations, including six Grand Crus, Vougeraie stands as one of Burgundy`s standout domains. The village-level Puligny-Montrachet from Vougeraie is crafted from three distinct plots. The younger vines, planted in 2006, contribute freshness, while the remaining two-thirds, planted in 1956, provide the structural foundation.
From three lieux-dits, the 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Village has a fragrant bouquet with Clementine and light patisserie scents, rather concentrated for a Village Cru. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite saline towards the finish, with a dash of lemongrass on the aftertaste. This punches above its weight and comes recommended.

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
