Domaine de la Vougeraie emerged in 1999 when wine entrepreneur Jean-Claude Boisset decided to unite all the vineyard holdings from his various négociant ventures accumulated over time. Boasting an impressive 40 hectares of vineyard area encompassing over 30 diverse appellations, Vougeraie has earned its place among the luminaries of Burgundy winemaking. Among their offerings, the village-level Puligny-Montrachet stands out, meticulously crafted from three distinct plots. The wine`s composition features the inclusion of younger vines, planted in 2006, lending a fresh and vibrant character. The remaining two-thirds of the vines, established back in 1956, provide the essential structure and backbone. Currently, the 2021 vintage exhibits youthful vigour, suggesting that it will significantly benefit from a few more years of ageing in the cellar.
The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Village comes from three parcels. It has a touch more presence on the nose compared to other cuvées with candle wax and honeysuckle mixed with orange blossom, quite Chassagne in style. The palate is balanced with a rounded texture. It's pretty generous and, clearly, a wine that is going to be very approachable. It just misses Puligny DNA, though it's a delicious Chardonnay.

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
