Here is the 2018 vintage from Château Pontet Labrie, a limited-quantity single vineyard wine made by Jonathan Maltus. Beautifully full-bodied, look for a complex profile ranging from deep dark fruits to olive tapenade, whilst cigar and herbal complexity is coupled with an elegant freshness.
The 2018 Pontet Labrie is a wine that I expressed some reservations about last year, especially the nose. It just misses the exuberance and delineation of the Le Carré, displaying faint touches of star anise and iodine, but all rather smudged. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry, very candied in style, and balanced though missing the elegance of the Le Carré. - Neil Martin
