Pio X

HED66826 75cl 9%
This is an exceptionally rare sweet wine launched by Gonzalez Byass. It was produced in 1903 and dedicated to Pope Pius X, following a bodega tradition to lay down a cask each time a new pope was elected. Produced from an old clone of Moscatel that was widely grown in Jerez during the mid-19th Century prior to the outbreak of phylloxera. It is technically not a sherry wine, having never been fortified and comes in with an ABV of just 9%. After 114 years of maturation, only 20% of the wine was lift in the barrel and yielded just 90 litres (120 bottles) of liquid.
