Château Pichon Baron, a Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the greatest historic vineyards of Pauillac. The estate has been owned by AXA Millésimes since 1987 and it’s currently looked after by Christian Seely. This release is the 2019 vintage of its Grand Vin, presented here in a magnum bottle. It is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot, aged in 80% new French oak for 18 months. The wine opens up to intense notes of blueberry compote, violets and damson, complemented by some flint and liquorice. This is a classic Pauillac, which has been built to age for many decades.
