The 2017 from the illustrious Château Léoville Las Cases is yet another superb release, continuing a fine run of form for this wonderfully consistent Saint-Julien Second Growth. Coming from 50- to 90-year-old vines, it is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot, and is wonderfully endowed with huge levels of concentrated fruit, exceptionally fine-grained tannins and effortless freshness. This will have at least a 40-50-year trajectory and will most likely require a few years cellaring before entering its drinking window.
