Situated in the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Graves, Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux, dating back to the 13th century. The 36-hectare property is on a combination of gravel-sand and clay-limestone soils, with a chalky subsoil rich in iron. 1990 was one of the top vintages of the 20th century for Bordeaux and this release is here to prove it. The blend is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and a substantial proportion of Merlot, 40%. That gives the wine a remarkable fragrance and smoothness.
