Jayson Pahlmeyer planted his vineyard in 1981 using “suitcase clones” allegedly smuggled from France. His founding philosophy was to create a “California Mouton” and has undoubtedly secured his winery’s reputation as one of the finest producers of Bordeaux varieties in Napa. The 1994 is up there with very finest Merlots ever produced in the region. It is rich, fragrant and full-bodied, with filigree tannins, impeccable balance and delicious notes of plum, mulberry, chocolate and smoke.
