Niebaum Coppola Rubicon 1991 is a full-bodied Bordeaux blend from the Napa Valley of California. Rubicon is the flagship wine from the highly regarded Niebaum Coppola estate, first released in 1985. The historic Inglenook estate was purchased by film-maker Francis Ford Coppola in 1975, though rights issues prevented Coppola from using the Inglenook name until 2011. For more than three decades Rubicon has existed as one of the finest examples of Napa Cabernet blends, with fruit sourced from the Rutherford benchlands - a prized vineyard site first planted by William C Watson in 1871. "Ultra-rich and concentrated, with impeccable balance. Deep and complex, with layers of cedar, currant, anise, blackberry, sage and mineral, very plush at points yet firmly tannic and structured."
