Neta Madrecuixe is a small-batch Mezcal produced from 100% madrecuixe agave in Miahuatlán, in the Oaxaca region of Mexico. Neta was established by Niki Nakazawa, Max Rosenstock and Yuskei Murayama, who work with small family farmers from Logoche, in the Miahuatlán district of Oaxaca. The 2022 bottling of Neta Madrecuixe was made from 50 Madrecuixe plants grown on rocky black soil and is a definitive expression of one of the region’s most important agave cultivars. Fermentation took place in two Montezuma cypress wood tanks before double-distillation in traditional copper pot stills and adjustment with a careful mix of heads, hearts and a select cut of high-proof tails.
