Marquis de Laguiche Montrachet 1998 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Grand Cru climat of Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. An owner of domaines including Domaine Marquis de Laguiche and the monopole of Clos des Mouches, as well as operating a hugely successful negociant business, the family-owned Drouhin is justly respected for producing such a diverse portfolio of Burgundy wines with such a clear signature of their terroir. Available here in magnum format is the 1998 Montrachet from Domaine Marquis de Laguiche. "Still youthful and decidedly exotic white flower fruit aromas combine with dense, sweet and sappy flavours that are quite rich and powerful and while they avoid heaviness, this is clearly not as elegant as it usually is. This will need another decade to be at its best in this format and while this will not wow you with its elegance, it`s still a Montrachet through and through and is a clear success for the vintage."
