Mestres is one of the oldest producers of Cava with a history that dates back as far as 1312. They bottled their first sparkling in 1925 and still use the traditional native grape varieties and winemaking techniques favoured by their ancestors. The 2006 is a fabulous blend of 65% Xarel.lo, 20% Macabeo and 15% Parellada. Elegant and rich, this is Cava of the finest calibre. Complex notes of toast, toffee and vanilla which evolve into smoky, nutty notes, concluding on an evolving and gloriously lingering finish.
