Massandra is a historic wine producer located in the Crimea region of Ukraine. Founded in the late 19th century, the winery has a long history of producing sweet, fortified wines, which were once favoured by the Russian royal family. Their cellars hold an extensive collection of old and rare wines, including some dating back to the late 1800s. This release is a fortified dessert wine made from the Pedro Ximénez grape variety, which is traditionally used in the production of sweet sherry wines in the Jerez region of Spain. This particular vintage is quite rare and represents an important part of Massandra`s history. It was made during the tumultuous years of World War II, and its survival is a testament to the winery`s resilience.
