Lochlea Fallow Edition 2nd Crop is a Lowland single malt whisky produced at the Lochlea Distillery in Ayrshire. This is the third in a set of four seasonal limited-edition single malt whiskies from the up-and-coming Lochlea Distillery. This Fallow Edition reflects the autumn season when the fields are left fallow after harvest. It was matured in a combination of ex-Pedro Ximénez and ex-oloroso Sherry casks. A rich, warming dram with notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, malt and banana bread.

Lochlea

One of the newest Lowland distilleries and a true 'barley to bottle' project. Founders Neil and Jen come from a agricultural background and, upon acquiring the farm in 2006, immediately saw the potential to grow a grain crop and produce whisky on their Ayreshire farm - thus Lochlea was born with distillery construction beginning in 2017.

Lochlea is on a small scale compared with most commercial Scottish distilleries. The team, lead by former Laphroaig distillery manage John Campbell produce approximately 180,000 litres of pure alcohol a year using a two tonne semi lauter mash tun, six Douglas Fir wooden washbacks and two bespoke stills. They fill approximately 30 casks per week.
