Lochlea Distillery
Small, but perfectly formed
One of the newest Lowland distilleries and a true 'barley to bottle' project. Founders Neil and Jen come from a agricultural background and, upon acquiring the farm in 2006, immediately saw the potential to grow a grain crop and produce whisky on their Ayreshire farm - thus Lochlea was born with distillery construction beginning in 2017.
Lochlea is on a small scale compared with most commercial Scottish distilleries. The team, lead by former Laphroaig distillery manage John Campbell produce approximately 180,000 litres of pure alcohol a year using a two tonne semi lauter mash tun, six Douglas Fir wooden washbacks and two bespoke stills. They fill approximately 30 casks per week.
