Made from carefully selected Sangiovese grapes, Le Pergole Torte’s first released vintage was from 1977. The grapes come from some of Montevertine’s oldest vines, planted between 1968 and 1999. The wine is firstly aged for 12 months in Allier barriques, followed by another year in Slavonian oak barrels, and further 3 months in bottle. Aromas of wild berries and brushwood, with persistent tones of dark fruits and spices. The mouthfeel is ethereal, with polished tannins and a reasonable level of integration despite the wine`s young age.
