Benjamin Romeo’s winery, Bodega Contador, is a relatively new addition to the tradition-steeped region of Rioja, however, he is not a novice by any stretch of the imagination having worked for many years at the illustrious Artadi winery. This is 100% Tempranillo sourced from a single vineyard and is a limited release dedicated to Romeo’s father, Andres. Deep and almost opaque in appearance, aromas of ripe blackberry, cassis, cedar, graphite and woodsmoke unfurl in the glass. Decadent, rich and powerful, this is a modern style of Rioja now perfect for drinking.
