`La Tâche is a small Grand Cru vineyard in the village of Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of the Côte de Nuits, and is a monopole of the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The 2006 vintage was reviewed by the Wine Spectator as follows, `Featuring black currant, licorice and sandalwood aromas and flavors, this is very structured, powerful and intense. There`s also plenty of breed and finesse, coupled with a long aftertaste.`
- The 2006 La Tâche Grand Cru is a vintage that I had not tasted since it was in barrel. But what a gorgeous wine it has turned out. The bouquet is so seductive, a heady mixture of red and blue fruit, pressed violets and citrus fruit that soar from the glass with amazing precision. The palate is medium-bodied with precise tannin, velvety smooth in texture with layers of red fruit laced with black cherries, Earl Grey and even a hint of liquorice. Monitoring the wine over several minutes it seems to gain depth and persistence. Beautiful. Tasted at 67 Pall Mall.

Domaine de la Romanee-Conti

Domaine de la Romanee-Conti

Words do not do justice to this legendary Burgundian producer. Situated in the commune of Vosne-Romanée, Domaine de la Romanée Conti (DRC) is considered by many to be the finest producer in the world. Co-owned by the Villaine and Leroy families, DRC produces only Grand Cru wines - some of the most sought after and ageworthy in Burgundy - from key grape varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These include six reds: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-St-Vivant, Échezeaux and Grands Échezeaux, and one white wine, Le Montrachet.

Run by co-directors Aubert de Villaine and Henri-Frédéric Roch for many years, the domaine is now entering a new chapter under new leadership. The domaine consists of 25 hectares of meticulously tended vineyards and includes some of the greatest terroirs in Burgundy.
