La Fleur de Gay 2000 is a full-bodied Merlot-based red wine from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. Crafted within the Pomerol appellation, Château La Fleur de Gay is a red Bordeaux wine sourced from ancient vineyard sections on the Chateau La Croix de Gay estate. It emerged as a standalone label in the early 1980s. While initially incorporating a touch of Cabernet Franc for certain vintages, the present iteration of the wine is exclusively composed of 100% Merlot. On the 2000 vintage. "I have always thought this was the best Fleur de Gay since the 1989 and 1990, and it showed extremely well in the 2000 horizontal tastings. Dense ruby/purple, with notes of melted caramel and mocha, along with raspberry and blueberry, the wine has that endearing combination of elegance and power. Layered and multi-dimensional, with silky, sweet tannins, the wine seems to have hit full maturity, where it should last for another 20 or more years. This is a beautiful wine." Wine Advocate, 2010
